If you ever find yourself in a scenario where there might be a medical reason to cut off or remove your tungsten ring. For example, weight gain, hand injury/swelling, etc. Removing a tungsten ring is just like removing any other precious metal. Most jewelry stores carry a special tool for removing wedding rings. Also local medical clinics, and hospitals should have something on hand if it's an emergency scenario.
Here are the steps to removing a tungsten ring at home.
- Find a pair of vice grips or any kind of locking pliers. If you do not have these tools on hand you should be able to find a removal at the jewelry store or local clinic.
- Close the jaw of the wrench until it clamps down on the exterior of your wedding ring. Then attempt to tighten further to apply pressure to the ring. If it does not work on first attempt repeat step 2.
- Step 3 carefully remove the fragments from your ring finger.
